Most of our gearboxes are off the shelf products, like the helical gearbox. A Helical gearbox offers a refinement over a spur gearbox. The leading edges of the teeth are not parallel to the axis of rotation, but are set at an angle. Since the gears are curved, the angling causes the tooth shape to be a segment of a "Helix". Helical gears can be meshed in crossed or parallel orientations.
In a helical gearbox the angled teeth engage more gradually than do spur gear teeth, causing them to run more quietly and smooth. With parallel helical gears, each pair of teeth first make contact at a single point at one side of the gear wheel. Helical gearboxes and various other types of gearboxes are supplied to the Water Treatment, Materials Handling, Cooling Tower, Mixers, Paper and Wood industries.
